Review: The Powder Room

IMG_8604

Last Saturday, these lovely ladies at The Powder Room in Silver Lake transformed my boring hair into the perfect shade of lilac. The problem was the shade was TOO perfect, that when I washed it for the first time, it started bleeding purple. I know this is normal anytime you dye your hair but I didn’t want my hair to turn even lighter that it might bring out the yellow tones of the bleach when it fades in a few weeks. I called Sally and Jaimie, told them my concern and Sallyย re-dyed my hair into an even more gorgeous, brighter shade of purple (see before and after).

before and after

I don’t usually style my hair. I just blow dry it after every wash and that’s pretty much it. Sometimes I curl the ends, but the most I do with it is put it up in a nice bun.ย Sally cut my hair and gave me fine layers that bring out the purple highlights while still making the overall look manageable.

My hair finally found home in Sally’s hands ๐Ÿ™‚ I won’t let anyone touch my hair anymore – great vibe, great people passionate about what they do. The Powder Room listens to your every concern and they won’t let you leave their chairs until you are extremely satisfied with how you look and how you feel.

Naturally my hair needed its debut – off to West Hollywood with Michael and James!

If you read my blog, you know this is my daily uniform: short shorts and a white top. Even though I like to pretend that I have all the time in the world to dress up, I really don’t. It helps that I own tons of shorts and flowy white tops.

Yes, I’m still alive. I haven’t fallen off the face of the blogosphere just yet ๐Ÿ™‚ I try to update as much as I can every week because there’s nothing I look more forward to than reading your comments and emails but I neglect my blog sometimes because of work and what not :/

Sharing with you guys what I wore to a (typical) bipolar day in LA. It got cold all of a sudden over the weekend, so I threw on this Army jacket I found and fell inlove with at a thrift store over this tiny floral dress. I love floral prints & army green, I like the balance between both fabrics.

I own too many white clothes, I love white dresses and white tops. I always feel prettiest when I’m wearing something white and flowy for some reason. This is one of my favorite dresses from Romwe, it’s so light, it doesn’t take up space when I’m travelling. It’s also very easy to dress up or down with the right accessories and the right pair of shoes. Plus, the cut out detail adds a little something to not make it look like a maternity dress :p

Do you guys have any dresses you over use and abuse?

The secret to creating a true statement necklace, is piling on a few pieces ๐Ÿ˜‰ I don’t really mind mixing metals, and I like the assortment it creates when you mix golds with silvers and gun metal. I’m so obsessed with my buffalo bone necklace from Enlightened Goddess, ย I practically wear it everyday, with everything!

Wore this to a friend’s birthday barbecue. I hope it stays this warm for a long time. I hate cold weather and LA weather’s unpredictability. Hope everyone’s having a great Memorial Weekend!

I must be a mermaid. I have no fear of depths and a great fear of shallow living.

I grew up in the tropics so I’m all about summer outfits! This under the sea, print on print theme going on is just too much for me to handle. I will reuse and abuse this outfit.

I feel like I’m in that awkward stage between feeling like I know what I want and really having no clue of what I’m doing and where I’m going, or maybe what I really want is to go along for the ride. Maybe I do know what I want, which is right now, to stay afloat.

For now I will stay suspended in the surface.

It was love at first sight with this Alice + Olivia top from Hamptons Heartbreak. The bell sleeves are perfection!!!! Hamptons Heartbreak is located in the same block as Cafecito Organico in Silverlake. So if you’re ever in the neighborhood, trust me, drop by this lovely vintage store, they sell clothes from independent designers, have an awesome selection of jewelry as well as vintage treasures. The girls here make everyone feel at home in their store, it’s really bad that they’re located only a block away from my house >.<
