I finally did it. My hair is now 50 shades of purple and I love it!!! Since I already bleached my hair, I think I will stay with light shades for now.

For the past week, Los Angeles has been stuck with this unbearable heat. This romper is pppppppeeeeeeerfect for mindless dressing during hot summer days (yes in LA, October is warmer than June or July). The print reminds me of the dresses my mom would make me wear in the 90’s to compensate for my boyish hair cut. Floral prints tend to be stuck for spring and summer only but you can make this work for fall with the right accessories. You can wear this with a pair of grey over the knee socks, boots, and a cable knit cardigan for colder weather and it still wouldn’t look out of place.

winter does not exist in LA

This pair of Jordan’s my boyfriend got me as a gift a few months ago is still one of the things I overuse and abuse. I always say, I’m a lazy dresser, and I just pick up whatever I have within reach, but these babies make everything look good without sacrificing comfort, as compared to some killer heels that will be pinching my feet after the next 2 hours, don’t you agree?

I’m usually uncomfortable having my pictures taken by other people because I have weird features, or at least I feel like I do. So far, when it comes to having my picture taken, aside from my mom and a tripod, I can only trust my soul sister Ivon. So, for my short trip to the Philippines Ivon and I did a super quick photo shoot after horse back riding and sand boarding in Brgy. Talingaan, La Paz. Here’s the first of two sets ^_^

I feel like I’m in that awkward stage between feeling like I know what I want and really having no clue of what I’m doing and where I’m going, or maybe what I really want is to go along for the ride. Maybe I do know what I want, which is right now, to stay afloat.

For now I will stay suspended in the surface.

Slinky long skirts that hug you in the right places don’t always have to look formal or like you’re about to receive a Grammy. I like to pair this sexy, long skirt with a thigh high split, with tank tops and a pair of flats or sneakers to give it a more down to earth sex appeal ^_^

Yes, thigh high splits, for a lazy uneventful day. Doable.

skimming to kick off summer [5/7]

[sunglasses: urban outfitters, lipstick: mac’s scarlet ibis, kimono robe: zuz, bikini top: risque, shorts: vintage]

Kicked off summer with a trip to the beach with my mom and my brother. I’ve been learning how to skim on and off for the past 4 years and I still am a big failure. Haha. But 4 major wipe outs to date wont stop me from trying 😀

MAC’s Scarlet Ibis matte lipstick is a red orange shade that’s very summery. It’s one of those bold shades where you don’t look hilarious rocking in the beach. Haha. I initially asked for MAC’s morange but it was sold out already, so my friend Ishii got me this instead and I love it!! I didn’t even bother to hunt down morange anymore.

This summer, make a kimono robe one of your key staples. This lovely black robe was sent by the beautiful Karla from ZUZ Closet. I also have it in blue and candy color stripes that I’m so excited to wear for my summer getaways! I’m all about using the same things again and again but making them look different each time. You can wear it as a cover up in the beach, or wear it with a pair of cut off’s and a basic white tank. If you tie it in the middle you can even wear it as a top!

Eugene is all over Ilocos, riding on cement, sand or water.

Epic fail. Haha.

5/7, I used my Red Dot scarf as a purse 🙂

easy breezy, 1st of january

[glasses: urban outfitters, corset, skirt: thrifted, beaded flats]

I bought this weekender bag from Red Dot to bring with me to Cebu for February’s trip, but I was way too excited! This medium sized bag holds up so much space it’s incredible.

My first day of the year was great, except for later part of the night but that’s a totally different story. One down, 365 more days to go 🙂

Btw, I finally retrieved my instagram. Follow me if you wish: ericketan

seeing stars

Here’s one way you can wear print on print. Pink leopard print and multicolored stars, print on print…on print if you count my floral print sunglasses!

I’ve always wanted a star print dress or top a la Chanel. I got this star print dress which I wore as a skirt from Folded and Hung a few years ago, it’s a simple sundress with an empire cut. It looks way better as a skirt 🙂

with your wayfarer shades, you drive me insane

[club wayfarers: urban outfitters, top: never been kissed, vest: topshop, pearls, cross bone necklace: os-accessories,  skinny belt: dorothy perkins, shorts: incez axe, sling bag: vintage dior, leopard cuff: aldo, earrings: gift from D, brogues: red dot]

This is what I wore for my lunch date with D before a project meeting. The weather in Ilocos is so bipolar right now, one day it feels like summer in November and then it’s as windy and chilly as if you’re in Baguio the next.
